May training
So far nothing dramatic, started to strenght train again and so far my legs are thanking me. no issues with my right anymore since i started to hit the gym. i have yet to really ride the trainer seriously, everything has been short and easy or easy even. It was a rainy weekend and ended riding the trainer at 6am then ran a little aftewards. Runs have been ok but the heat has been very oppressive. i tested the new shorts baby gave me and so far ok. i plan on getting a pair of compression shorts to at least help in keeping me injury free. i need to ride the bike more, not sure but i do not like riding my bike compared before wherein i loved being on the bike, i need to find that again. i`ll be swimming again next week after almost a month out of the water, hopefully i don`t drown.
Hello again adamo
The adamo arrived today and I guess the 2nd time`s a charm with regard to using it. I think I was the very first one to use this saddle in the country and it was just a mistake to sell it when I sold my litespeed which even to this day I still regret doing. I have already replaced the romin with this one before work today and i`ll tweak the position after watching the video on installing the adamo properly wherein it`s the rails you need to keep a close eye on and not the top part of the saddle. Training has been sporadic since my bike-run last Friday
50 min ride on the trainer
2 x 10 mins
20 min run – cut the run short because I felt I strained my right calf again
I did plan on running during our 3-day vacation at the beach but opted to just rest the leg.
Monday – 45 min run at an easy clip, stopped every 1.5k to stretch the leg
I finally decided to lift again and boy was I in for a surprise, I felt sore already before going to bed but I know this will pay off come October when I race long can`t wait.
The gorilla`s back on my back….
Training has been fairly consistent since the last time I posted and so far I have been trying to run every day or as long as my legs hold up. So far the only injury/strain that I had was the calf pull I suffered back in late November but so far so good. The past weekend was a long one and I have below what I did since
Friday – 2 hr ride
Sat – run (40mins with stair repeats)
Sun –run ( 60 min easy run)
Monday – 90 min ride 7 loops inside kapitolyo and ran 10mins with 5 mins of walking
Looking into building fitness for WRT in October, I was disappointed that the iron distanced race was moved somewhere else and not in Matabungkay anymore. I still have plans of doing the distance solo next year which will be the 10th year since my meltdown
Training..training…
The weekend went well and my legs are not sore, i have yet to take an easy week i guess doing all your runs at an easy does have its benefits
so far so good, i have run more ks compared to last years 100/100 challenge and i am riding more as well but no longer rides just yet. Hopefully i get the chance to ride outside by the end of January. The workouts i am currently doing are definitely making me stronger and the longer rides will just add to what i currently have. My runs have been great, i guess being patient at the start did me good. i feel i am running faster this year compared to the previous year wherein i was injured more than half the year. My weight has slowly been going down and i feel great. Long runs are now in the 50+min mark and my normal/regular ones in the 40mins-45mins. I see that building every 2 weeks has kept me fresh and no recovery weeks for me just yet. The MOA du is less than 80 days i think–will check my polar later for this one. Hopefully i finish faster this year than last year.
First 20-min trainer ride
Friday was trainer day, i otped to just ride after work and after almost 15 yrs of this crazy sport, i finally did my first 20-min MS(main set) on the trainer wherein i had it on the big chain and averaged around 22-24 mph for 20mins, i did feel hard at first but i cranked it up the last 5-10mins. Instead of doing another set of 10mins, i only did 5mins and next week i`ll be doing a 1 x 20min and 1 x 15min hard ride. the weekend will look like an easy run after work saturday morning, 30-35mins then run long on sunday plus and easy spin if i`m awake in the afternoon. i would be riding long early monday morning, i need to get in a 2 hr ride.
Running more than last year or ever even…
After “retiring” from running last june of 2009, i lost the fitness even if i cycled regularly..i did gain 1 thing — WEIGHT!! i finally said i need to start running again and see if my knees will give me issues or not, this was in early october/late september..started with 3 runs of 7mins each and slowly built to 15mins then when the tour of matabungkay came by mid-october i stopped running again. It was my way of not running but i was not enjoying my runs because my legs have gone weak or my form has gone bad because i literally forgot how to run so after the tour i started to run again and i was still having anterior tibialis issues(muscle outside your lower legs/shins) so seeked advice and it seems i was flexing my foot upwards causing the soreness, i have been running with a high cadence and when i started to run again, i was bouncing up and down more than going forward. i shortened my stride and just let my feet drop flat with each running stride and the soreness went away. so far i have 10 more runs since the 100/100 run challenge this year compared to last year`s challenege wherein i only ran 40mins at a time yet i ended up injured. The hrm is doing its job and it might be the missing link because it now acts as my guide and all my runs have been easy. the challenge ends in mid march or the week before the MOA Du.
Thurs run – final run for orange
Easy run for 35 mins after work and decided to wear my orange supernovas..i had foot pain during the run good thing nothing serious. it seems this run was the last one this pair will be doing with me, it has served me well though and i guess almost 2 years has finally said when. I always had good runs when i used this pair and yesterday`s run was far different from past runs and i knew the moment i stopped and strecthed my lower legs that it was time to retire this pair. i`ll be doing an easy 35min run after work and i`ll use the tempos and see what happens.
pre workout
1-pc wheat with pb
1-pc small crunch
Food
dinner/breakfast: 3 slices wheat with tuna spread
mug of milo for adults
Sleep: +/- 6 hrs
Wed is recovery day :)
Got home after work and just rode for 15miles on the trainer, easy 1 hr ride. My legs are still sore from all the running and now an hour each day of riding just added more insult to injury.
Sleep: 8 hours- we overslept!! set the alarm at 6 but woke up at 7:30
Food:
breakfast:
1 egg/tuna sandwhich with a handful of doritos
Lunch: fish fillet with a handful of fries
2 milk teas
Snack: 1 banana
i`ll be running after work then ride when i wake up. almost the weekend
trainer rides = mind games
After work i finally did a hard trainer session wherein i did 3 x 10mins at 75-85% max HR, to be honest i`ve never done a workout like this since my 2000 HIM, it sure felt good to have done the workout. Totals: 1:00 17miles
Slept like a log and woke up at 5, drank a cup of joe and headed out for an easy run; this was a first for me as it`s been a while since i ran in the afternoon or early evening. Wore my creations which i thought would give me issues again but i started out easy after walking almost 20mins because being a first for me to run at the time, i didnt know what to expect…it was completely the opposite to my morning workouts as there were more couples sitting down than people working out but no matter, i`ll run and enjoy. 35mins went by and walked home.
had a nother cup of milo for adults after the run and now my legs feel a little heavy.
Riding for an hour again after work, nothing special and just spin easy. if i wake up early, will run again when i wake up.
The 8s are far better than my 4s or 3s..not sure which creation model i bought a couple of years back and i never really got used to that shoe and always had issues with it before but looking at how i ran before and how i am running now, a change in run form has done me a lot of good

Doubles and bike challenge
Started the new year in bed, instead of running early in the morning, i just decided to sleep in and run in the afternoon. Good decision as my knee felt weird the day before. Ran for 37mins, just went in circles inside the QC City hall because the QC circle was filled with a lot of people. i decided to run 37mins to mark my 37th year in this world. the run felt good and i did get in another run the next day. My longest run is now 45mins which i`ll do again this sunday then add 5-10mins next sunday.
I finally had my first “lunch break run” here in the office, i decided to wear my adidas tempos, walked for 5 mins and started at a very slow pace but i had issues with my lower leg again and i did get in 36mins worth of running but i felt irritated because of my lower legs getting sore because of improper form. i decided to run again after work and good that i did as my 2nd run felt great and even ran faster than my 1st run. i jumped a few places in the challenge as well
I also joined the January bike challenge, 30hrs in 30 days. i just missed a couple days worth of saddle time but i`ll make up for this this month. planning on doing a hard trainer ride after work to let the legts recover and run when i wake up later today.
